My Thanksgiving List

November 28, 2005 at 8:46 pm (Uncategorized)

The turkey leftovers are almost gone, the last piece of pumpkin pie awaits my 9:30 snack time so I thought I’d reflect on the things that I’m thankful for this year…

a husband who loves me and loves God
two healthy kids
a beautiful new house that will be paid off in a couple of years
being debt free (other than the house)
Dave Ramsey’s ministry (helped us become debt free)
our church family who cares about us
my dearest friends – each fills a unique role in my circle of support

and most of all…

…an amazing God who constantly astounds me with the blessings he pours out on us. Each time I stop and reflect I am amazed at all that he has entrusted to us. The more we give the more he blesses us which in turn makes me want to give to others and pass on the blessings. I’m praying that God will bring those opportunities to us.

The “Pros” of Having Your Camera Stolen

November 16, 2005 at 9:39 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m still hoping that our camera will magically reappear somewhere with all 400 vacation pictures in tact but life must go on. And as an avid scrapbooker and amateur photographer I must have a camera.

It was just my luck that Canon recently came out with the new Digital Rebel XT. I’ve wanted one of these cameras for a few years. I’ve heard such great things about them and I love the flexibility of the camera being manual or automatic. Plus you can add like 50 different lenses, extended flash capability, etc. Basically, it can grow with me. The downside is the price tag – $900. Seems like a lot to pay for a camera. But hey, we came in under budget on our vacation, right.

It took some time to convince Mark but he finally agreed. I think he still likes our old one better. He thinks this one is “huge” 🙂

Now I’m itching to take a trip or go somewhere that I can really use it and get some great scenic pictures. Maybe I’ll go hike Camelback Mountain ……..?

Home Sweet Home

November 3, 2005 at 10:02 am (Uncategorized)

Well, we’re back from two weeks travelling around Europe sans kids. We had a great time. We spent a couple days in London, a few days in German, 2 days in Scotland and several days with Mark’s sister Jenny in Northern England. I will have to post more details and pictures of our trip later. We don’t have any pictures of our first week as we lost our digital camera in Scotland, losing all of the pictures of our first week. Luckily Mark had been buying lots of postcards. So I’ll just have to scrapbook those 🙂

There’s nothing like going away to make you realize what you miss

1. my sleep number bed
2. my KING size sleep number bed (we actually had 2 twin beds at one hotel for 2 nights)
3. Diet DrPepper
4. free soda refills at a restaurant (found once at Pizza Hut)
5. being served ice in my soda (only by request and then it was like 2 or 3 cubes)
6. my kids (absence makes the heart grow fonder right?)
7. my friends

I am extremely thankful for friendly German girls who give lost Americans directions in the middle of the night 🙂

It’s good to be home.
