Moving to the Other Blog

January 10, 2009 at 10:34 pm (Uncategorized)

Well, now that the kids are home I find it difficult to figure out what to post here vs. on the “adoption” blog. But since I have a lot of other adoptive parents or prospective adoptive parents that follow the Four Plus More blog I have decided to ONLY continue to post over there.

I will leave this site online so that people can find the content but all our new family news will be posted on

If you are linked to this blog on your blog, please change the link to

Thanks so much!

Giddy Girl

November 26, 2008 at 9:30 pm (Uncategorized) (, , )

Well, we are a mere two days away from our adoption court date and you will find me to pretty much be completely giddy.

I woke up Monday with what I thought was an upset stomach. When it didn’t go away, and never got worse, I finally realized that it was butterflies.  Like the kind I get before going on a trip, or public speaking (which I love to do). So I guess they are court date butterflies.

Even though I’m tired from too many late nights, I have this amazing energetic bubbly feeling inside. Totally hard to describe.

I wrote more about some of the emotions I’m going through over on the adoption blog. (Speaking of which I’m thinking that I’m going to have to condense these two blogs at some point. I’ll keep you posted though.

It’s over

November 5, 2008 at 7:49 am (Uncategorized)

I’m so glad it’s over. I honestly can’t stomach much of the political talk and so I mostly keep to my internet updates.

I could write something really deep and profound about what I’m feeling, but my husband beat me to it.

So go read his post. I say “ditto” and also leave you with this…

“The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord;
he guides it wherever he pleases.” Proverbs 21:1

My Baby

November 1, 2008 at 11:21 pm (Uncategorized)

Tomorrow my baby girl turns 6. She is asleep upstairs and as I skimmed through photos of her last several years I was struck by how much she has changed, and yet, how much she is unchanged. Her facial expressions are easily recognizable in pictures when she was two. While she has grown up, she is still very much the sweet, joyful girl that she has always been.

She is also very much a nut and makes us laugh so much. I tried to reflect that in the slide show below.

Catch Up

October 31, 2008 at 9:54 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m sure you were waiting with bated breath to see what I thought of HSM3. My kids had the day off school (nice of them huh) so we caught the first showing at the theatre (which also saved us $9). Final word – cute, fun, probably my least favorite of the 3 though. It was obvious that they were using the film to introduce the next round of characters for HSM4 and frankly, I’m not sure the new kids will have the same appeal. So that’s my final HSM synposis.

Yes it’s been a long time since I posted because somehow the months of October and November seem to fly by and get busy.

  • Kids had a patriotic music assembly last week and each grade sang a patriotic song. Mrs. Rocca was awesome and picked some really cute songs I’d never heard.
  • Work has been busy as we are getting all our Christmas stuff lined up and I am also trying to work ahead to prepare to be out of the office for 4-6 weeks when we get the kids.
  • Natalie turns 6 on Sunday so we had her class party today, sleepover tomorrow, family party next week.
  • Signed up Noah for baseball that starts tomorrow, right after
  • The all church picnic which, for me, includes setup and picture taking.
  • Instead of trick or treating (and coming home with a bag of candy of which you will only eat 1/3) we went to Phoenix Christian’s homecoming. Saw a few old friends which was nice.
  • Next week Mark’s sister comes in from UK with my new niece Annabel. I guess she’s not officially “new” anymore since she’s 3 months old but since I haven’t seen her in person she’s new enough. Can’t wait to kiss on those chubby cheeks!
  • Can’t wait to eat some Ethiopian food at the Slonigers party on Sunday. Natalie is very excited about the injera.
  • 28 days til court!

The Sound of High School Musical

October 22, 2008 at 12:32 pm (Uncategorized)

Only 2 days til HSM 3 hits theaters.

But first, you have to see this. Someone figured out that “Bet on It” from HSM 2 synchs perfectly to “The Hills are Alive” from Sound of Music. WARNING: Do not have liquids in your mouth while viewing.
