WFMW – Cold Bottled Water for Long Days

April 24, 2007 at 9:24 pm (Works For Me Wednesday)

So the summer time is brutal in Phoenix and it will soon be here. Running errands can be especially tiring when you’re getting in and out of a hot car (which barely has time to cool down before you’re at the next stop).  If you leave a bottle of water in your car for more than about 30 minutes it will be hot enough to make tea with when you come out.

So in the summertime I try to keep several bottles of water frozen for errand running days. I will open them up and pour just  a small amount of the water out, then recap and freeze in the freezer. Pull them out right before you go. They melt as the morning goes by and will stay cool for at least awhile longer.  They don’t last all day but you can’t expect miracles can you???

We do this in Israel all the time – they’re great for a day at the beach.

Great tip! I do this too.
If you put sock over the bottle, it will absorb the condensation and keep it from dripping all over as it thaws. They do that at my son’s school with their personal water bottles.

That’s a great idea — so is the comment about a sock. I hate puddles in my drink holder in the car.

I love doing this and it keeps my kids happier!!
