WFMW – No Post Office Lines

December 12, 2006 at 7:46 pm (Works For Me Wednesday)

WfmwheaderI needed some boxes to ship some things so I went to the Post Office today and it was CRAZY! I actually had to park in the dirt lot next to the post office.

As I went inside and scooted past the very unhappy looking people standing in a 1/2 mile long line I wanted to scream "Ship online! Ship online" at the top of my lungs.

Seriously people! It does not get better then "Click ‘N Ship". You can print out a nice little label with to/from address and your postage and delivery confirmation (free) barcode all included. Slap that on your package. Find your closest post office. Tick everyone in line off by going up to the counter, setting your package down, say "it’s prepaid" and WALK AWAY – maybe smile at the people on the way out to brighten their day!

Better yet, find any type of Mailboxes Etc., Parcel Post, etc. and you can do the same thing.

You don’t need a fancy electronic postage scale. Just use your bathroom one. It took me about 15 minutes today to get 6 packages ready to mail.

P.S. The Post Office now has a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box (one that is square and one long thin one) that is $8.10 to ship no matter how heavy it is. So if you’re shipping something heavy but not too big, use a flat rate box.

Happy Shipping!

I had no idea you could do that. Wow, what a difference that could make, huh?

And I thought you were going to say ship UPS! 😀

This is a great idea. I’m wondering how accurate my scale is…

This is a great idea! I have been using the self-help machines and they’re great but on-line would be even greater.

You can also set the package out by your mailbox for your postperson to pick up. Or schedule a package pick-up (ALL FOR FREE!).

    It is fantastic.
