Sin City Visit

Recently spent a few days in Las Vegas for a church conference. Yes, I thought this was ironic too. It was a regional conference held at a local church. I’m not sure why Las Vegas was chosen but it was.

I haven’t been to Las Vegas since about 1998 – before kids. Before becoming deeply involved in our church. Before becoming a pastor’s wife.

Last time we walked the strip, we played the slots, I attended a tech conf. It was a fun trip.

This time my eyes were a little more open. Of course since joining the church staff we don’t gamble or drink – the 2 biggest reasons to go to Las Vegas I suppose. I was amazed as we drove down the strip. Someone in our group said something like “They have nothing to say, but they sure know how to say it.” You wouldn’t believe some of the signs (see pic). Saxon told us on the drive there. If someone tries to hand you something, don’t take it. They just hand out porn on the street. And he was write. There was even a guy with wearing a t-shirt that said in HUGE letters “Strippers Delivered to You”. Full on moral depravity.

As a group we really had a great time. The Palm Valley staff is a fun bunch of people to hang around with. They know how to have a good time and play some good practical jokes but they are also just really great people.

Mark and I chose sleep over an evening tour of the strip. It just didn’t appeal to me. I just couldn’t wait to get out of that city.
